Brinkman for Assembly race
Business consultant Catherine Brinkman is the best choice for the Republican nomination in the race for the state Assembly's 19th district, a young candidate who could help to re-energize the local party and press for fiscal discipline and economic incentives in Sacramento.Brinkman, a Foster City resident who works for Dale Carnegie Training in San Francisco, promotes upgrading our aging infrastructure and economic measures such as mixed-used developments with housing and retail components as well as incentives for businesses to stay in California.
She knows she is in a tough race in the heavily Democratic district but points out there are still Republicans to represent. Brinkman, age 29, also hopes to get younger residents interested in politics.
We urge her to flesh out ideas more so that she can fully articulate her own vision for the district. In an interview with the Daily News editorial board, Brinkman seemed vague at times in describing the problems facing the state and how to fix them. A fully expressed campaign platform would serve all voters.
Overall, Brinkman is the best candidate to represent Republicans in the fall general election for the Assembly's 19th District.
